The project was in Wellington Square in Perth, on the eastern side of the CBD. The City of Perth has undertaken major works in renovating the park, beginning early 2020.[sgdg path=”Job Photo Uploads/7428/Marketing”]
StoneSet porous paving was one of the works scheduled this month, to be completed towards the end of the project. Purportedly costing some a $18.7 million to upgrade, overall the works included “construction of a new playground, basketball courts, new paths and facilities and a place of reflection to commemorate the Stolen Generation.”
Porous Paving for Public Pathways
Not dissimilar to many other public paths, the requirements were familiar – The solution had to be porous and non slip, to both support the groundwater retention and reduce flash flooding and runoff.
The more obvious advantage was of course the beautiful natural stone look for the CBD park on the pathways and of course be non slip for the parks patrons.
The product is highly popular given the imperative upon governments to increase urban tree canopy cover and do more to reduce the Urban Heat Island Effect.

Gravel binding is not one of the first things that comes to mind when looking for porous paving ideas and particularly when considering paving over existing hard surfaces.
