This StoneSet Tree Surround was installed on 15/4/16 at MacCabe public park off Church St, as a result of public works to decrease the compaction of soil around the roots of the trees near the carpark section.
StoneSet used a 10mm quarried mix of Charcoal (70%) & Arctic (30%) stone bound with StoneSets’ premium polyurethane resin. This mix has been used for more than 10 years across all states, by Australia’s longest running porous paving company.
10mm stone is highly popular for Tree pits as unlike our 6mm range of stone, it has wider gaps and voids, meaning a much higher flow rate of 103L /sqm /minute. For driveways, a 6mm stone is more suitable as it optimises stregth to take the weight of cars over many decades, however as this area was only expecting foot traffic, the 10mm size stone is better for porosity, to increase the flow rate of water into the tree roots.[sgdg path=”Job Photo Uploads/1908″]
