Warranty Terms

Scope of Warranty

StoneSet Pty Ltd warrants its resin bound paving products to be free from defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and maintenance for a period of up to ten (10) years. This warranty applies to the original purchaser and is non-transferable. The design life of StoneSet is 20 years, with a 10-year warranty period, provided the conditions and exclusions below are met.

Warranty Coverage

1. No Loose Stone Warranty
  • Coverage: StoneSet guarantees 99% no loose stone retention for a period of 10 years.

    • “No loose stone” is defined as 99% retention calculated annually. Over 10 years, retention may reduce to 90%, though this is unlikely.

    • If the surface exhibits consistent stone shedding, indicating a failure of the StoneSet resin system, this is covered under the warranty.

  • Exclusions:

    • High wear areas subject to tire turning or heavy vehicular traffic beyond the specified purpose of the surface.

    • Improper maintenance, including failure to apply a resin roll coat every 3-4 years.

    • Use of incorrect sealants or maintenance processes.

    • Surfaces not installed for their intended purpose or using an incorrect StoneSet blend.

2. Delamination Warranty
  • Coverage: Surface adhesion is warranted for 10 years.

    • “Delamination” refers to the detachment of StoneSet from the substrate due to a failure of the resin system.

  • Exclusions:

    • Substrate movement, unless control joints were properly prepared and maintained.

    • Improper use of sealants or maintenance processes.

    • Damage caused by substrate defects, sinking, or tree roots.

3. UV Stability Warranty
  • Coverage: StoneSet uses UV-resistant aliphatic polyurethane, protecting against extreme yellowing. Minor tone changes may occur over time but are not considered defects.

  • Exclusions:

    • Surfaces exposed to abnormal environmental conditions beyond standard UV exposure.

    • Failure to perform periodic maintenance, including resin roll coats.

4. Trowel Finish and Surface Appearance
  • Conditions: StoneSet is a hand-laid product, and trowel marks are an inherent characteristic.

    • Coverage applies only if:

      • Marks are consistent across the entire surface.

      • They present a trip hazard or safety issue.

      • They are reported to the installer within 30 days of installation.

Conditions of Warranty

  1. Maintenance Requirements:

    • Surfaces must be maintained as per StoneSet’s guidelines, including regular cleaning and debris removal.

    • Application of a resin roll coat every 3-4 years to ensure surface integrity.

  2. Installation Standards:

    • Surfaces must be installed by StoneSet-approved installers or in accordance with StoneSet’s technical specifications.

    • Substrate must be stable, properly prepared, and defect-free.

  3. Limitations of Liability:

    • StoneSet’s liability is limited to repair or replacement of the defective area at its discretion.

    • StoneSet is not responsible for incidental or consequential damages, such as loss of use or value.

    • This warranty does not cover:

      • Damage caused by accidents, misuse, or neglect.

      • Wear and tear consistent with the intended use of the surface.

      • Damage from chemicals, fuels, solvents, or improper sealants.

Legal Compliance

  • Consumer Rights: These terms do not limit your rights under applicable consumer protection laws.

  • Compliance with Standards: All installations comply with relevant standards, including surface installation, drainage, and substrate preparation.

  • Defects Liability Period: Defects from workmanship will be rectified within 12 months of installation, provided maintenance guidelines are followed.

  • Cooling-Off Period: Customers have the right to cancel within the applicable cooling-off period, subject to state-specific laws.

  • Dispute Resolution: StoneSet encourages mediation before escalating disputes to formal legal proceedings.

Additional Notes

  • Surface weeds may appear and should be treated promptly.

  • StoneSet requires regular maintenance to remain clean and algae-free.

  • The surface starts glossy but naturally mattifies over time, revealing the stone’s natural color. A gloss coat can be applied later if desired.

  • Some loose stones may appear within the first few weeks post-installation; 99% retention is guaranteed over the warranty period.

  • StoneSet’s practice is to reflect substrate joints with aluminum unless otherwise agreed.

  • Photos and videos of installations may be used for promotional purposes unless otherwise notified.

To make a warranty claim, the customer must:

  1. Notify StoneSet in writing within 30 days of identifying the defect.

  2. Provide proof of purchase, photographs, and a detailed description of the issue.

  3. Allow StoneSet or its representative to inspect the site and evaluate the claim.
