Why Pour On Gravel Binder?

Pour On is the simple, effective way to stabilise loose gravel without compromising appearance or permeability. Ideal for gardens, pathways, medians & even rooftops, it transforms stone into a clean, low-maintenance surface that stays in place.

Unlike diluted spray-on products, we use a high-grade, ready-to-pour polyurethane resin for stronger, longer-lasting results. It also offers added benefits like solar reflectivity & thermal protection on rooftop applications making it as practical as it is visually appealing.

How it works?

Pour On binds gravel by flowing through and locking stones in place without changing the natural look or needing to thoroughly mix the resin through the aggregate before placing. It works on both new & existing surfaces even with larger or irregular stone across two simple coats.

The resin levels through the stone for a consistent, durable finish that remains permeable underfoot. With fast installation, minimal tools & minimal to no excavation required, it’s a smart solution for long-term performance across a wide range of commercial settings.

Rooftops

Ballast is a critical component of many rooftop systems. Whether used over waterproof membranes for protection, drainage layers, or to assist with thermal performance and SRI compliance, loose aggregate plays an important functional role beyond aesthetics.

However, traditional loose stone on rooftops presents ongoing challenges. Wind uplift, displacement during maintenance access, blocked drains, uneven coverage and trip hazards all create risk for building managers and contractors. Over time, movement and compaction can also reduce reflectivity performance and compromise the uniform ballast layer required to protect the membrane beneath.

Pour On Gravel Binder eliminates these risks by locking ballast stone in place using a high-grade, UV-stable polyurethane resin, without compromising permeability or drainage. By stabilising the aggregate, the system maintains consistent coverage, preserves thermal and reflective performance, and prevents migration into gutters and outlets.

The result is a safer, lower-maintenance rooftop solution that retains the functional benefits of ballast while removing the hazards associated with loose stone. Ideal for podium decks, commercial rooftops, plant zones and accessible service areas, Pour On delivers long-term stability, improved compliance confidence, and a cleaner, more durable finish.

Pathways & decorative gardens

Loose gravel is a popular choice for pathways, courtyards, and garden spaces used to meet hard-to-soft landscaping ratios, enhance drainage, and contribute to visually calming designs like Japanese-style rake gardens. But without binding, these areas can quickly lose their charm.

Unstable stone shifts, compacts underfoot, and invites weeds, making the surface harder to maintain and less usable over time for both visitors and caretakers.

Pour On Gravel Binder locks loose stone in place with a high-grade, UV-stable polyurethane resin without compromising permeability. In fact, by preventing movement and compaction, it helps maintain optimal porosity over time, improving both drainage performance and surface stability.

Whether rejuvenating an existing gravel area or delivering a fresh finish on a new project, Pour On is a fast, cost-effective way to enhance aesthetics, minimise maintenance, and extend the life of permeable landscape design.

Road medians & passive drainage zones

Public infrastructure, streetscapes, and open spaces often include narrow gravel strips along road medians, footpath edges, or around facilities like public pools. These passive drainage zones play a vital role in reducing runoff, managing overland flow, and supporting Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD) principles.

But when gravel is left loose, these areas quickly become high-maintenance. Stone migrates into gutters, clogs drains, compacts over time, and loses the porosity needed for proper infiltration. The result? A surface that no longer performs its drainage role, nor does it look clean or functions safely.

Pour On Gravel Binder locks stone in place using a UV-stable, single-part polyurethane resin. It stabilises gravel without capping or sealing the surface, allowing water to pass through freely. In fact, by preventing movement and compaction, Pour On enhances the long-term permeability of the surface critical for WSUD compliance.

Quick to install over existing gravel or as part of new civil works, Pour On turns vulnerable passive drainage areas into long-lasting, low-maintenance, permeable assets. It eliminates loose stone hazards, reduces weed growth, and ensures these narrow bands continue to meet infiltration targets and contribute to broader sustainable drainage outcomes.

Whether used along medians, swales, or verge strips, Pour On is a simple yet effective upgrade that aligns with the performance, durability, and environmental goals of modern urban design.

FAQ’s about Pour On Gravel Binder

Should I choose amber or clear Gravel Binder?

It depends on the stone colour and the finish you want to achieve:

  • Clear Resin – Best for lighter coloured stones where you want the natural colour to show through. It gives a “wet look” finish initially, which then softens to a more natural matte appearance over time.
  • Amber Resin – Adds a warm amber tint, which can alter the look of light-coloured stones. For that reason, it’s better suited to darker or brown stones where the tint is less noticeable. Amber is also a practical choice for non-decorative applications (e.g. aggregate around or beneath golf course bunkers) where aesthetics are less important
Can a watering can be used for application?

No. Pour On must be applied using the approved method to ensure even coverage and proper performance. The recommended approach is to use a bucket with a wide surface area, with 3 mm holes drilled in the base to create a ‘shower head’ effect when pouring. For tighter areas, such as edges against walls or adjacent surfaces, a paintbrush can be used for accuracy.

Can Pour On Gravel Binder be mixed with the stone rather than poured?

No. Pour On is designed to be applied as a surface binder only. If a “mix & trowel” application is required to create a fully bound surface, you should instead use either StoneSet’s 1K DIY Resin or StoneSet Premium UVR Resin.

How long does a Pour On application last?

The design life of the resin is in excess of 5 years. The life of the finished surface is dependent on the quality of installation, type of stone, level of use and base stability.

Can Pour On be used for vehicular use?

No, however, when used to bind pebbles within a drainage cell system, a high percentage of the stone will maintain a strong bond.

Can Pour On be used on any stone?

Yes, pretty much. The important criteria is that it is graded as a single sized stone between 6 and 20mm. We have used lots of gravel, crushed rock and recycled aggregates. Some recycled brick or very porous stone may require more resin, so monitor the surface once it has cured for any dry patches. It is always recommended to carry out a trial area to ensure your stone is suitable.
