The permeable advantage for your home.

StoneSet uses natural stone held together with a strong yet flexible, clear resin. Tiny gaps between the stones allow water to pass through easily, up to 60 litres per square metre every second! The result? A tough, long-lasting surface built to handle heavy traffic as well as everyday wear, year after year.

  • Strong and safe: Built to last, even with cars and heavy foot traffic.
  • Low maintenance: The smooth, seamless surface stops weeds and loose stones, while water drains straight through, no puddles, mud, or constant upkeep
  • Luxury seamless finish: No more weeding between pavers or loose stone
  • Easier council approvals: StoneSet often counts as a “soft” surface, helping you meet local rules and use more of your property for driveways or patios.
  • Cooler outdoor areas: StoneSet doesn’t trap heat like concrete, keeping your spaces more comfortable in summer.
  • Prevents erosion: Slows down water flow, protecting your garden beds and landscaping from washing away.
  • Kinder to the environment: Helps replenish groundwater and supports healthy, green spaces.

Great for driveways, paths, patios, and pool areas.

FAQ’s about permeable paving

Does permeable paving get blocked or clogged over time?
StoneSet paving stays strong and keeps draining water, year after year. Tiny gaps in the surface let water flow through, so it rarely gets blocked. After a big storm or if dirt builds up, just give it a quick pressure wash and it will work like new again.

Does permeable paving count as soft landscaping for council requirements?
Yes, many councils count StoneSet as “soft landscaping.” This means you can often have a bigger driveway or patio and still meet council rules. Every council is different, so it’s best to check your local guidelines.
If needed, we can give you all the info and paperwork to help get your plans approved.

Can StoneSet be installed over soil?

For your StoneSet driveway or path to last a long time, it’s important to have a strong base underneath. We don’t recommend laying StoneSet straight onto bare soil. By following our guidelines, using quality materials, and making sure the edges are secure, you’ll get the best and longest-lasting results. For best results, please check our specification pages for full installation details or give us a call to discuss your project.

What happens to the water once it gets through the surface, will it damage my homes foundations?

No need to worry, permeable driveways and paths let water soak into the ground, just like a lawn or garden. This won’t harm your home’s foundations. If extra drainage is ever needed, it’s easy to add drains under or beside the paving to keep everything working smoothly.

Can I resuse the rain water the StoneSet absorbs?

Absolutely! With StoneSet, the water that drains through your driveway or path doesn’t go to waste, it can be collected and reused for things like watering your garden or topping up your landscaping. You can even connect it to systems that use rainwater for toilets or cooling, if you wish.

Because StoneSet lets water soak back into the ground, it also helps replenish underground water supplies, which is especially important in Australia. By keeping rainwater on your property and out of the stormwater drains, you’re helping to take pressure off local council systems and supporting a more sustainable way to manage water at home.

Do permeable systems cause sinkholes on my property?

No, you don’t need to worry about sinkholes. When installed properly, StoneSet permeable paving will not cause sinkholes. Sinkholes usually happen when water rushes through the ground in one spot and washes the soil away, but StoneSet is designed to let water soak in slowly and evenly, just like it would in a natural garden.

By following our installation guidelines and using the right materials, StoneSet helps keep the ground stable and prevents erosion. In fact, permeable paving often makes your yard even more secure by reducing water runoff and spreading water out gently under the surface.
