When StoneSet was originally approached by Selling Houses Australia to take part in their 200th episode, we quickly realized this was more than an opportunity to bring a tired driveway back to life. For this episode, the showrunners were looking to do something amazing: help a family in need make it possible to meet the growing medical needs of one of their newborn twins.
A Need for Change
With increasing trips to the hospital and mounting pressure on their current living situation, Amelia and James needed to renovate and sell their home so they could find somewhere closer to medical care. One of the main elements of this renovation was the exterior of the home. That’s where StoneSet came in.
The delapidated concrete driveway needed to go, but the need was present to keep the transformation as affordable and as quick as possible. Tearing it up would take time, hinder the ongoing renovations and prove to be costly. Resurfacing it, however, would be a different story entirely.
StoneSet’s Bespoke Solution
StoneSet quickly got to work creating an all-new custom resin bound paving blend specifically tailored to match the homes coastal aesthetic. Palm Springs was invented specifically for this project, a blend of cool whites and warm tones that lifted and lightened the outdoor space. Installed directly on top of the pre-existing driveway, it allowed the team to bypass the need to demolish the space and saved precious time and resources with installers on and off the site in just two days.
The end result was a clean, contemporary surface that blended beautifully with the surrounding landscape design, contributing to the overall re-design of the home that viewers witnessed throughout the episode. The 6mm Palm Springs blend created a driveway that was P5 slip rated, UV resistant, and able to stand up to plenty of wear and tear in the future.
We would like to thank everybody who helped contribute to making this episode and life-changing transformation possible, to Wendy Moore for featuring us in her article in The Interiors Edit, and to Selling Houses Australia for bringing it all together.
